These release notes describe and illustrate the features of this first release of the RH Import/Export Plugin for Maya. They address all issues related to the installation and use of this plugin.
Please note that this document may be updated as more information becomes available.
Units of measurement are now preserved when exporting .rh files within Maya.
Maya 7 no longer fails when importing an .rh file with BREPS.
The entire model is no longer exported when you select a single object to export.
Light orientation is now preserved.
Hierarchy information is no longer lost when exporting to the .rh format.
Animation is now no longer imported when you choose not to import the animation information.
Animation cycles anr now imported correctly.
Known Issues
The Maya plugin does not load automatically each time Maya is started. To correct this: 1. Install the Maya plugin as you would normally. 2. Choose Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager in Maya. 3. Browse to the plugins folder and select rh_mayaXX.mll. The plugin will be loaded for the current session.
Note that every time Maya is opened, this procedure must be repeated to load the plugin.
Deep Exploration does not support the Modify > Freeze Transformation > Translate option in Maya; if an object is created in Maya and the object has 'Freeze Transformation' applied with the 'Translate' option activated, the object’s pivot point co-ordinates will be re-set to 0,0,0 when the object is opened in Deep Exploration.
System Requirements
Minimum
Maya version 6.0, 6.5, or 7.0.
Installation
The plugin can be installed directly from the CD-ROM, or it can be downloaded and installed from the Right Hemisphere Web site. Before installing we advise closing Maya and all Right Hemisphere applications.
New Installations
To install the plugin from the CD-ROM:
1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Use Windows Explorer to locate the executable file.
3. Double-click the Setup.exe file to start the installation.
4. Follow the instructions as they appear on your screen.
Note: You must ensure the correct versions of Maya are selected for which you want to install the Right Hemisphere plugin.
5. Start Maya.
6. Choose Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager from the menu bar.
7. Select the rh_maya*.mll 'loaded' and 'auto load' check boxes.
Note: '*' indicates the current version of Maya.
8. Click Close.
Existing Installations
To uninstall the plugin:
1. Start Maya.
2. Choose Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager from the menu bar.
3. Clear the RHMayaExpImp*.mll 'loaded' and 'auto load' check boxes.
4. Click Close.
5. Close Maya.
6. Delete the following files:
\bin\plug-ins\RHMayaExpImp*.mll
Note: '*' indicates the current version of Maya.
\bin\plug-ins\dll\eview3d.dll
\bin\plug-ins\dll\Plugins\*.* (all files)
Product Versions
Version numbers for the RH Import/Export Plugin for Maya begin at release 3.5 in keeping with the Deep Exploration family of products.
The version number scheme is 1.2.3.4567 where:
1 = Major version indicator. This would be incremented for a major release.
2 = Minor release that indicates new feature release between major releases.
3 = Indicates a patch that includes fixes only.
4567 = Build number as an identification of the build that is released.
