These release notes describe and illustrate the features of this latest release of Deep Paint 3D. They address any issues not discussed in the Help reference or Readme documentation and they include information regarding installation.
Please note that this document may be updated as more information becomes available.
Navigation has been made similar to Deep Exploration
New licensing system created which replaces the eLicense system.
Known Issues
Users of Deep Paint 3D installed on Vista: UAC must be set to OFF on order for Brushes to work as expected.
Photoshop filters are only available via Adobe Photoshop.
No updates for XSI, the suggested workflow is to use RH XSI Import/Export plugin to save as .rh.
The bump bitmap is a different size to the color map. Materials have their textures saved, but the bump bitmap is being scaled up to match the size of the color bitmap. This is a limitation of Deep Paint 3D. It needs all channels to use the same size bitmaps.
File>Export Selected does not show *.rh format as a seleciton. If you want to export to *.rhm use File>Export.
Deep Paint 3D is unable to read DE primitives.
Deep Paint 3D cannot read object visibility from
*.rh file. Therefore if some objects are not visible in Deep Exploration
(visibility set to 0 or hidden), everything is visible in Deep Paint
3D.
When external textures are missing, Find File dialog displays. Cancelling all missing textures is not possible at this time. They need to be cancelled one at a time.
Deep Paint 3D does not preserve extra information that was previously stored in an *.rh file, specifically animation, steps, views, callouts, markups.
Export from Deep Paint 3D to Deep Exploration using *rh does not translate specular information correctly, swapping specular and emissive information.
Installation Overview
Before installing Deep Paint 3D or Deep UV, we advise closing all applications.
A number of plugins can be installed during the Deep Paint 3D and Deep UV installation processes, to enable you to work with external applications by sending objects through to Deep Paint 3D for painting, and Deep UV for mapping. New UV and texture information can then be exported back to your application.
The supported plugins are:
3ds Max.
LightWave.
Maya.
SOFTIMAGE|XSI.
Photoshop (for Deep Paint 3D only).
When you install a plugin, you must specify the correct folder path for the external application. If you do not specify the correct path, Deep Paint 3D or Deep UV tries to locate it, and if it is not found, the path defaults to the Deep Paint 3D or Deep UV plugins folder for the particular plugin. You must then manually locate it and move it to the correct folder.
Please note:
The 3ds Max, LightWave, Maya, and SOFTIMAGE|XSI plugins must be enabled in the external application before the functionality becomes available. See the Deep Paint 3D or Deep UV Help reference for details on enabling the plugins.
The correct Photoshop plugin path must be set in the Deep Paint 3D preferences if you want to use the Photoshop filters from with Deep Paint 3D. See the Deep Paint 3D Help reference for further details.
