Visualization and the Enterprise Value of 3D Product Models

Considerable time and resources are deveoted to developing 3D CAD models, with the ultimate payoff of a commercialized product. However the rich information encoded within 3D CAR yields addtional product-facing functions. Realizing these benefits involves shifts in cross-enterprise coordination and 3D visualization solutions to translate engineering data into more widely consumable formats. Based on the experiences of 166 study participants, this report identifies the diverse enterprise benefits (including manufacturing, service, and sales performance improvement) organizations can realize from the use of 3D assets as well as the best practices that support these initiatives.
